Hidden Art Friday

mending 001Happy November!  I can’t believe how fast this fall is flying by.  This week I finally tackled my mending pile for the first time since baby J was born (7.5 months ago).  I had to mend some holes, take in a couple nursing tops that are finally getting a little loose, and sew on countless buttons.  It’s such a production getting my machine out these days that I, um, rarely do…which is why I thought the event deserved a celebratory picture…

We have actually had a couple dreary fall days here (extremely rare in SoCal), so the kids and I are working through some fun new crafts this week.  I love Katey’s idea for having kids make stained glass windows at Having Fun at Home.  Have you done any fun new crafts with your kids lately?

Because hospitality is so important, I was happy to see two bloggers address it this week.  At A Cheerful Heart, Abby has such a gracious response to a negative experience while visiting a new church.  Over at Femina, Nancy Wilson talks about what our response should be when we’re intimidated to have others over: “We want hospitality to make us feel like awesome hostesses and cooks. But the truth is, it’s not about us in that way at all. It’s about connecting with people around a table and making them feel welcome and fed.”  I’m still thinking about cultivating a culture of hospitality, so stay tuned for more on the topic from me, too.

I’m going out with my husband tonight–always a great way to start the weekend!  May you have a delightful fall weekend, as well!
