Hidden Art Friday

Happy Friday, everybody! For my post today, I’m going to show you our art project for the week: Christmas ornaments!

ChristmasOrnaments3We used this tutorial from youtube, but I know there are tons of other ones out there.

ChristmasOrnaments2This project was right up my alley. The kids got to enjoy making something, and use real art supplies, but because you dump the paint inside the ornament, there was virtually no mess. Perfect.ChristmasOrnaments1

Our ornaments are still drying, so I don’t have a finished product to show you. This was also a dry run–I have one more box of ornaments, and I think I’m going to run to Wal Mart this afternoon and get a few different colors to do a second round.

We are gearing up for Christmas around here. Last weekend, we put up our tree, and we’ve gotten out all the Christmas books I love. For a quick list of great Christmas books for older children, check out this link. For my littler kids, a few favorites include: Bear Snores On, The Night Before Christmas, Turkey for Christmas, The Snowy Day, The Snowman, and Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening.

Stay tuned next week as Emily and I talk about kids and Christmas presents. Happy Friday, everybody!
