Hidden Art Friday

I don’t know about you, but I’m much more inclined to do an activity with my kids if it’s something I enjoy.

I enjoy coloring.

I find it peaceful and stress-relieving.

I order all of our coloring books from amazon. You can get such nice ones. The last time I placed an order, I ordered an adult one for me. To my surprise, the kids loved it. They would ask if they could color in mine with me, instead of working on their own book.

So now coloring is a regular activity. We use nice supplies. I have found that if I invest in nice supplies, I teach the kids to take care of them, and they last much longer than their cheaper counterparts. They are an investment, though. (Birthday gift idea!) For colored pencils, we buy Prismacolor. The kids are not allowed to sharpen them–I do it for them. For the littler girls, we buy Ferby colored pencils. (I have not found a great pencil sharpener for these because they are fatter than standard pencils–anyone have a suggestion?) The girls also love using colored Sharpies, but be careful! They will bleed through paper and stain anything and everything underneath. We always use a plastic mat when coloring with Sharpies.

The coloring pages the girls are working on today were these ones. Some of our other favorites are this one, this one, and this fairy one.

Happy Friday!
