Remember how I told you I was going to try to get rid of 2014 things in 2014? Yesterday I made it over the 500 mark, going through my jewelry box and throwing away some cheap old stuff while getting ready for a date night with my husband. My kids are in on the action, too–if a toy is broken or seems outgrown, they rush to me and tell me it’s another box we can fill in on my chart! I don’t know if we’ll make it to the 2000 mark without another garage sale, but it’s been a satisfying and fun challenge for us so far. How do you manage clutter and organize things at your house? I’ve been inspired by Angela’s tips for small bedrooms at A Typical English Home.
So, don’t you guys love our new artwork? Thanks to my sister-in-law for refreshing our look! I had a lot of fun working with her to come up with the design–I vaguely wanted something vintagey with the kind of colors you’d see in Dick and Jane books. Super vague, I know. Jennifer teased a concrete vision out of that, gave Anna and me several options, and after many back-and-forth emails of feedback and discussion, created the lovely images you see now. If you’d like to check out more of Jennifer’s work, you can visit her blog and her etsy shop.
Are you aware of the 40 Days for Life campaign running across the world? It’s a 40-day prayer vigil to end the genocide of the unborn. My kids and I have sat outside our local Planned Parenthood to hold signs and pray (our local abortionist, Virginia Siegfried, comes to town on Tuesdays to kill babies through the second trimester), and I also signed up to get daily prayer reminder emails. Even if you’re not into picketing, do consider joining us in prayer.
It’s not too late to join our reading club! The discussion threads from the past weeks are still live on the forum, so you can easily comment on any of the early chapters, and this week, we’re on Method 3: Keep Children Away from Machines and Machinists. I’ve really enjoyed interacting with some of you personally–it’s so encouraging to “meet” like-minded moms.
Happy Friday, and have a great weekend!
