Hidden Art Friday

Happy Friday, everyone!

My family and I kicked off this weekend by starting our 8-day, 2600 mile road trip. We finished the first leg yesterday, and will be spending the weekend with friends in the midwest before continuing our journey to Montana for the summer.

I had to do some troubleshooting as we were packing, though. My son had a Kindle, but we have never had a cover for it. With other kids in the house, this was a foolish mistake, and one of his sisters stepped on it, breaking the screen. Now we’re on Kindle #2. As I thought about my son in close quarters in the car with his sisters, the thought of buying another replacement Kindle caused me to frantically start googling DIY Kindle cases two nights ago. After an hour’s worth of work, we are all set!

I’m sure there are millions of tutorials for this sort of thing, but I used this one and was very happy with it. It took me less than an hour to complete. The book was on the shelf, and the red duck cloth (sorry for the bad picture!) was in my fabric stash. If it holds up over the summer, I think I’ll be making one for my Kindle.

What are you up to for the weekend?
